This local MVP begins analysis only after you explicitly ask it to check content.
ClaimLens sends the captured text, links, and selected images needed for the check to the API address configured in the extension. Visible comments within the selected post may also be captured; the review drawer shows them separately and lets you remove them before submission. It does not send your full browsing history, cookies, passwords, or unrelated page HTML.
The default API runs locally in demo mode. It uses fixture data and does not call paid research services.
If a developer explicitly enables live mode, submitted content is sent by the local server to configured research providers. Credentials remain on the server and are never bundled into the extension.
The local API keeps checks in memory for a short configured window (60 minutes by default) and loses them when the server stops. The extension stores only local settings and the most recent check ID. “Clear local history” removes extension storage.
ClaimLens itself does not sell browsing or claim data and does not use submitted content to train a ClaimLens model. Review the policies of any live provider you configure before use.
